Mercury is the innermost-closest planet to the Sun. Mercury is also the smallest planet in our solar system. Mercury has the shortest path and the shortest time in its revolution around the Sun. Mercury takes 88 Earth days to complete one revolution around the Sun. Mercury is the fastest planet.
The counter-clockwise orbit-path of Mercury around the Sun is very highly eccentric around the Sun. On Mercury’s path, it has the closest approach to the Sun at a distance of about 46 million km, and Mercury is furthest away from the Sun at a distance of 69.8 million km, internet source; therefore, a variation of nearly 24 million km.
