What is Lunar Eclipse?
Lunar Eclipse is an event when the Earth comes directly between the path-line of the Sun and the Earth’s moon. Due to Earth covering or blocking the sun’s rays or sunlight falling on the moon, the moon appears darkened in the sky; in other words, the moon is not self-luminous and is dependent on the Sun as a source for its visibility so it darkens. This phenomenon is called the Lunar Eclipse.

Lunar Eclipse, called Chandra Grahan in Hindi, is a spectacular celestial event. Every year, 2 to 5 lunar eclipses take place. There are basically three types of Lunar Eclipse; these are Total Lunar Eclipse, Partial Lunar Eclipse, and Penumbral Lunar Eclipse.

There are two Lunar Eclipses in 2019. In 2019, Lunar Eclipses dates are the 21st of January and the 16th of July. The Lunar Eclipse of 21 January was a Total Lunar Eclipse. The Lunar Eclipse of 16 July is Partial Lunar Eclipse.
