The legendary Maharana Pratap Singh was a Rajput, the ruler King in the Mewar region in the Indian large State of Rajasthan. Maharana Pratap Singh was a celebrated warrior. Maharana Pratap Singh lived and ruled in the 16th century. Maharana Pratap Singh was a member of the royal family of Mewar. Maharana Pratap Singh was the eldest son to his parents Raja Udai Singh II and Maharani-Queen Jaivanta Bai. He had younger brothers and step-sisters.

Maharana Pratap Singh lived from 1540-1597. According to the Gregorian calendar, Maharana Pratap Singh’s birth date is the 9th of May 1540. He was born in the Kumbalgarh Fort near Udaipur. However, according to and relating to the Hindu calendar, Maharana Pratap Singh was born in the Hindu calendar month of Jyestha, on the 3rd day, Tithi, in the Shukla Paksha. Shukla Paksha is the rising-waxing phase of the moon in the fortnight of the month. After the death of Maharana Pratap Singh on the Gregorian date of 29th of January 1597, at age 56, his eldest son Amar Singh succeeded him.

Maharana Pratap Singh is famous for winning the battle of Haldighati. Maharana Pratap Singh was known for his war tactics and tenacity. In this short battle of Haldighati, Maharana Pratap Singh actually once defeated Mughal Emperor Akbar’s invasion on the legacy-dynasty of Maharana Pratap Singh’s father Raja Udai Singh. Maharana Pratap Singh did this without the support of any other regional Rajput rulers or forces. It is believed that Maharana Pratap Singh forces were 20,000 while that of Akbar’s was 80,000. Maharana Pratap Singh’s horse’s name was Chetak.
Maharana Pratap Singh was a chivalrous, nationalist, patriot, and opposed entry of foreign invaders the Mughals, and fought against them in the protection of the homeland.
