Acharya Vallabha, also known as MahaPrabhu Vallabhacharya, was one of the prominent philosophers, spiritual leaders, Gurus, born in the 15th century India. The Sanskrit word ‘Vallabh” means popular, the dear loved one or the beloved one. Vallabhacharya preached, and devotionally and dedicatedly worshiped Lord Krishna. He promoted Krishna Bhakti, devotion to Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is the 9th avatar of, among the top three deities, Lord Vishnu. He knew the Vedas and the Upanishads from an early young age. He founded the Pushti Sect in the Indian region. With Telugu origin, vis-à-vis, Telugu Brahmin family background, Vallabhacharya Ji was born in Champaran, near Raipur, in the modern-day Chhattisgarh State of India, in 1479. Raipur is currently the capital of Chhattisgarh State. Vallabhacharya lived for about 52 years.
Shri Vallabhacharya Jayanti marks his birth anniversary every year. In 2019, it is his 540th birth anniversary. The date of the Shri Vallabhacharya Jayanti is determined as per the Hindu calendar. It falls in the Hindu calendar month of Vaisakha, in the 1st day of the Shukla Paksha moon phase. Shukla Paksha is the waning-decreasing moon phase. The date of Vallabhacharya Jayanti can vary year in the Gregorian year calendar.
Shri Vallabhacharya was born prematurely by 2 months for facing problems and accidental labor in travel by his mother, at night. His parents, father Shri Lakshman, and mother had to travel in urgency. On birth, there were no signs of life to the infant. Thinking that the child was dead, his parents placed him under a tree wrapped with cloth and covered the body with dry leaves. However, Lord Krishna triggered in the mind of the parents and gave the light that the child was in fact alive. On this, the parents went back to the spot and found him alive, and embraced him.
Lord Krishna is one of the most popular Hindu deities. Many worldwide devotees of Lord Krishna as well, worship him with passion, devotion, and reverence. According to the ancient scriptures, Mathura-Vrindavan area is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Shri Vallabhacharya also went to Vrindavan for studies and devotion purposes.
