What is the history behind the making of Haryana?

This day was a historic decision that changed the politics of entire North India. Some riots were there which was resolved but some new took birth again. On this day parliament took this decision of creating Haryana and Himachal Pradesh out of Punjab. Because Haryana was the only place who took their heads up to defeat English men in 1858 when they tried to capture local King's palace. When independence took place in 1947, the Hindi speaking people and local Haryanvi native people asked for their individual rights for recognition.

In 1948 as for the first time Master Tara Singh raised a voice for the right of native Haryana people to get departed from Punjab and Hindi speaking states. Therefore it fired up the issues and when it got out of hand of Punjab State Government, so Chief Minister of Punjab Bheem Singh thought of seeking the help of the Central Government to resolve the issue by re-instating and reorganizing the Punjab state. Later on, the new ideology was presented in parliament which followed by including the following district in Hindi speaking language

  • Rohtak
  • Hissar
  • Gurgaon
  • Karnal
  • Jagadhari
  • Narayan Garh

But unfortunately, this idea also couldn’t work out for the province as all of the majority of Hindi speaking couldn’t come along at one place. In December 1953 India government abolished a commission in presence of Shayad Faizal Ali to recognize according to their language.

People don’t amend this commission too as they stated partition on the basis of language was not acceptable so the riots continued till 1956. Till 1960 the rage began to fire up and people startled and started to adopt Satyagrah, almost 50,000 people were arrested and were sent behind the bars. Many starved to appeal but still, there was no conclusion. In 1965 Sant Fateh Singh gave the ultimatum of 25 days to central government and started Anshan, which periodically resulted in the rage and madness of Hindi speaking people as if the new state would be there then they will come in minority.

Finally on September 25, 1965, under the province of Sardar Hukum Singh, he made a new committee on 17th October 1965 for which a meeting was held in Rohtak. Three proposals were stated:-

  • First, to build a new Hindi state where all Hindi speaking natives from Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, UP state will be stated.
  • If Up and Rajasthan don’t concur to the proposal then all the areas in Punjab who speak native Hindi language should be placed in a new place.
  • Haryana praant should be made and all Hindi speaking be considered in that.

On 28th September 1966 Hisar, Jind, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Mehendragarh, Karnal, Rewari, Ambala, Jagadhari, Narayangarh, and few places were enclosed in the state of Haryana. But the High Court of Punjab and Haryana are the same ones.

Finally, On 1st November 1966, the government of India passed the Punjab re-organization Act according to which Punjab was sub-divided in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Chandigarh being the capital of both Haryana and Punjab.

“Only Braveheart, Sportsmanship, and Desi belong to this state. And one name in the whole world arises in mind, Haryana when we see the face of pride and honor.
